I was scratching an itch on my neck on Friday when I noticed it was kind of sore. I felt around and felt a little, sore lump, near my collar bone. Of course I totally freaked out and when DH came home I had him feel it, too. He's usually the "aw, it's nothing" kind, but he even said, "Hm...that's not normal." Again I freaked so I ran up to the Doc in the box place up the road. I had it in my mind that it was a blood clot!
Turns out it wasn't. He asked me if my scalp has been itching lately- it has been for the past several days. He also asked me if I've had any sinus issues or drainage. Yup, pretty much chronic PND for the past couple months. So he feels around and says, "I think it's just a swollen gland from drainage, but I can't exactly tell if it's X or Y" (can't remember what he was saying). Then he follows it up with, "I'll put you on antibiotics for 10 days and then follow up with your PCP. It's either a swollen gland from drainage, or it could be cancer." WTF?!?!?! Just matter of fact- JACK A$$!!! You don't say that to an already completely neurotic woman! I have been a mess all weekend and counting down the hours until I can call my PCP and get in to see him. I understand if it's the reality of the situation, but did he have to just say it like that?!
Keep your fingers crossed and say your prayers that it's just the drainage issue! I feel like it's already gone down a little, just after being on the meds for 24 hours. Hopefully that continues to be the case. errr...bring on another ulcer!
