    Default Crib Shield

    Dear Denise and Alan,

I wanted to mention a crib item that I ran across - my DS started to press his face into our crib bumpers at 3 months of age so we removed them. Once he started to get limbs stuck between the slats on the crib at 5 months, we became desperate to find a way to keep him contained. The crib tents require the mattress to be lowered all of the way so weren't a good alternative when he was small.

We've been using the Crib Shield system (sold at Walmart, etc) - http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...7:86325:136828

This has been an incredibly useful, inexpensive crib bumper alternative. I wish we knew about it earlier - we would have just bypassed the crib bumper. We now have a second one that we use when we travel - it's so easy, safe and works well.

Our DS also had surgery on his head at 4 months of age (for a prematurely fused growth plate) and we had a hard time finding a way to elevate one side of his mattress - we now have the Baby Be Safe sheets with built-in wedge and plan to use this in the future for those ear infections that will come in the future, etc.

You probably know about these already but I wanted to mention them since I haven't seen them in "the book" and wish more parents could learn from our trial and error. Thanks,

    Audrey, mother to Graham

Another vote for the Crib Shield. We are using the full size version and it is great. It is also available in Canada.

Thanks! We do get questions about a product like that from time to time, so it would be worthwile to mention! Appreciate all of you taking the time to comment.
