Default Suggestion: change default "rating" to "positive"

There was a thread in the lounge today that pointed out how easy it is to mistakenly rate another community member with a "neutral." Since hardly anyone uses the neutrals or negatives, can we change the default to positive?

    Thanks!

Chiming in to agree with Marisa! I've inadvertantly given neutral ratings before because of this.

    This is a good idea. I "fourth" it :D. Okay I don't think that's a word.

I also wish you could edit feedback at least once after you give it.

I rushed thru a feedback rating the other day and spelled a word incorrectly.

I feel terrible that this user is forever stuck with my illiterate feedback!

We apologize about this---we know this has been suggested in the past.

Let us explain a bit of how the board script works: some of the board features we can adjust and others we can't. And you guessed it, the user rating default is not a parameter we can fix. The board script is an off-the-shelf software product that unfortunately is a bit inflexible.

Now, that said, we have written to the developer and asked him if there is a way to hack this. And we do have another option: change out the board software all together. The advantage here woulbe a raft of new features that make the boards easier to use. The bad news: we mostly likely would not be able to "port" all the old threads to the new board.

    What do you think?

Wow. That would be a HUGE change! It might be nice to have a fresh start, but at the same time I use the search feature all the time to research products/ideas.

Perhaps you can pin this idea for feedback too?

If you do go to new software, can you keep the old boards for history and reference, but locked to new posts?

Exactly. The old boards would be still on our site, but "closed" to new posts. You could search them for past discussions, though!

The developer of DCForum might have more information on this, but I've read that vBulletin has a DCForum+ importer that works.

You might check them out. It seems to be a good forum package with active support and development.

I really like the current forum (it's my favorite format of all the forums I frequent) but can understand the frustration of using a product which isn't being updated and supported.
