Default Help! How do I get marker stains off my toddler?? - Update

Well, I think it's just going to have to wear off. I've tried rubbing alcohol, nailpolish remover, and lots of soap and water. I didn't have any hand sanitizer at home, but will get some when I'm next at the store. There is no appreciable difference in how the marker marks look after trying the above methods. Oh, well! Live and learn, I guess. At least most of it is on her arm and chest (she was wearing only a diaper when she found the marker) and not her face. I think spending the extra money on the special markers that only write on paper will be WELL worth it!

She found a Crayola (not washable or Color Wonder) red marker, and did a job on herself. I've already tried a regular bath, and the results were not favorable. Is there anything safe to use on a toddler for removing marker stains? The box says they are non-toxic, but that they can stain. It's right. Any ideas? She looks ghastly. Thank you!

Hand Sanitizer worked for us last weekend when Colin some how managed to color all over his face at church. The ball point pen ink came right off.

    Good luck!

Try rubbing alcohol. I think that's why the hand sanitizer worked for a PP. It has a high alcohol content. There is some scientific reason. Something about organic compounds, but heck, chemistry was maaaaaaaaaaaaany moons ago. ;)

Good luck! I have found that time is the best answer. Whenever I try to scrub my boys when they have marked on themselves, they aren't too happy.

I don't know the answer but I have to laugh (in a good way) since we introduced markers this week and it's one of his new favorite words. I got some Crayola washable crayons and washable markers and he is already getting covered learning how much fun they can be and all I think about is how thankful I am that they are washable. He likes to wipe his hands with a baby wipe when he is done and he points to the marker on his fingers and says dirty. It cracks me up everyday.

I am sure it will come out and I wouldn't worry about the toxicity of it at all. :)

You might want to consider the Aquadoodle. My toddler loves it and the markers write with water only, therefore, no stains anywhere. You can only make the color on the mat and it disappears.

    Debbi,

Which markers do you have that are washable? Do they really come off with only a baby wipe?

I bought a kit in the outlet section on their website (they must have sold out in the last month) that had washable crayons and washable markers.

They wipe right off with a wipe or a wet washcloth and water.

I couldn't imagine it any other way since he thinks they are so much fun. What if he dropped one and ran off with it and colored on the wall? The Magic Eraser can't be that magical all of the time. :)

I don't know about marker, but the Magic Eraser worked great on crayon the other day. I am continually amazed by it!
