Fire dept here recommended against fire ladders b/c they find it delays people from getting out, b/c people dont know how to use them or they are stored under a bed in a box, etc.

We have one that we got as a gift. It has been sitting in our garage as we have a single story home :-}
We have one under the bed in our room but do not have them for Mia's or Jack's rooms. We should, I know, but they are big. We could put one under Mia's bed but not sure where I'd put one in the nursery. Ours is a three story one though since our second floor is one and a half floors above grade as is common in Chicago. I also keep a couple of carriers upstairs now so that I could strap either kid onto me and carry them down as I agree that they are too young to do it alone.
