RE: For what do you use a Serger?
You can use the serger to finish up the seams you made with your regular sewing machine. It makes them narrower and and gives it a more professional look. Depending on the seam you can use your serger instead. Technically you can use it for decorative stitching, but I don't care for the look. It is also supposed to be good for knits. I have to be honest, I havne't used mine in years, so I don't know it very well. I have a booked called "The Complete Serger Handbook" by Chris James. It has a lot of good ideas and techniques.
