Default Baby alarm clocks - how do they know?????

After 2 plus years and 2 kids it still baffles me just HOW exactly these kids know EVERY morning, without a clock, that it is EXACTLY 5:50 a.m. on the nose. For the past four days running Jack has woken up at 5:50. Not 5:51, not 5:49, 5:50. Four days. How does he DO this?

And why oh why (a) can he not understand that his big sister just recently stopped waking at this ungodly hour and now sleeps until 7 or 7:30 and that he should do the same or (b) if he cannot manage to sleep in until his sister wakes up, he should at least do me the courtesy of sleeping an extra, say, 12 or 13 minutes to take the sting out of waking up and seeing a 5 as the first digit on the clock. Somehow 6:03 or so would be a lot easier to face every morning!

So now it is 7:17 - Mia is blissfully asleep and I am sitting here looking at my squealing baby - who has been laughing, squirming and shrieking for 1 hour 27 minutes and who, by the time kid number 2 gets up, will need to be rocked to sleep for the first of at least four 45 minutes (if I am lucky) naps today!

    Thank god it is Friday!!!

Edited to fix a typo b/c apparently I'm too tired to spell.

Oh, it's crazy isn't it? For a while Julia was doing the same thing, waking up at almost the exact same time every day, to the tee.

    Hugs to you!

I am seriously considering painting my wiondows with black paint to get my kiddo to crack the 6 am mark too. (OK I really won't do that but it is tempting!)

Oh I am so with you! Only we're trying to get to the 5's rather than the 6's! It doesn't matter how early I go to bed, I will ALWAYS be tired if I have to get up before 6 am!

Our little alarm clock goes off at 6:09 for the last week or so. That's not too bad, a few months ago it was between 5 and 5:30, which was quite painful, as you all know. Tonight, we drove 3.5 hours to my sister's house, and the little stinker DID NOT fall asleep in the car. He ended up going to bed at 10pm (usually 7pm)! Unfortunately, I'd bet a lot of money that he'll be up again at 6:09.
