    Default Linnea needs glasses

So a friend (and my MIL) noticed the other day that Linnea has one eye that is turning in. I took Linnea to the doctor and it turns out she is extremely farsighted. She needs glasses immediately. I know in the grand scheme of things it's not that big of a deal, but I feel really sad. I don't want her to have to wear glasses. Since I have bad eyes and most people on both sides of our families do, I knew that it was likely that at least one of the girls would need them but I never expected that it would be so soon. For some reason I'm having a really hard time getting used to the idea. I know it's stupid but I just need a little support.

Jessica I have no experience with this, but just wanted to send you ((HUGS)) and hope that Linnea takes to her glasses quickly.

I would recommend sending Susan (ChunkyNicksChunkyMom) a PM, her daughter got glasses recently, and she's under 2.

Huge hugs to you and your daughter... glasses these days are way better than when we were kids..

    Take care!

I already thought of that and it's on my list of things to do. Thanks!

    ((HUGS))

I'm glad it wasn't anything more serious, I was wondering how things went!

Having said that, the glasses for kids today are lightyears from what were around when we were kids. A little girl at our church had them at 6 months and they really were kind of cute on her. Think of it like another accessory you get to pick out! Just make sure to get the kiddy protection package for when they get broken.

    nak

Hugs, Jess! I don't have any additional advice, but the three toddlers I've seen with glasses (all girls) seem to tolerate them very well and look very cute in them. As many have said, glasses have come a long way since we were kids. And yes, definitely get the protection package.

And I fully expect both kids to need glasses and braces.

Thanks Eileen. I think it's hard to see my baby growing up so quick. Glasses just seem like such a grown up thing. And yeah, I would imagine our girls are doomed to have allergies and need braces and glasses too. It's just in the genes.

One of my playdate friends' son is extremely nearsighted and also has to wear glasses. I know it's been emotionally rough on his mom, even though her DH also is/was extremely nearsighted too, because there's a bit of uncertainty and dealing with doctors has been a PITA at times. Hang in there and take it one day at a time the best you can, and enjoy all the blessings and positives that you have along the way.

    Hugs,
Karen, mom to three beautiful boys, 10/2004, 7/2006 and 10/2008!
