    Default Fun ceiling light fixtures?

We're really starting to decorate DS' bedroom, and we'd like to change the ceiling fixture, which DH and I jokingly refer to as a "boob light" because of its strong resemblance to a certain part of my body. We'd like to find something fun and child-oriented, preferably in the shape of a star. I have been unsuccessful in my google search, except for a very cool fixture called "burst" which is very attractive (and adult-looking) but there is no way I'm spending $750 for a ceiling light for a not-quite two-year-old (or for myself--we just don't have that kind of money!)

Has anyone seen anything good? I'd be happy just to have something kid-oriented instead of a plain-old round fixture.

    TIA!

I did some research and here are a few things I came up with:

This first one is not a star at all, its a globe (the world, not a globe style light fixtrue), depending on what theme you are going for it might work.

The second one is way out there - $250 - but just what you are looking for.

The third one is an Ikea wall lamp, not ceiling.

Probably the easiest and most cost effective thing to do is to get a simple round flush mount and then use it as the center of a star that you paint on the ceiling. HUGE bonus, you can use glow in the dark paint, either for the entire thing or just to outline it so that when the light goes out the star shines on!

Good luck, I can't wait to get to a point where I can 'do' a room for my daughter!

Oh, thank you so much, Jen! That blue star fixture is so beautiful! I also love your idea of using the light as the center of a star--I think we might do that, since it is a little less expensive!

    Hallie,

Just read in another post that you used an airplane quilt. This is NOT what you are looking for (it's a ceiling fan with NO light) but it is soooo darn cute! I'm actually thinking of buying one for my hubby...
