    Default shoes for an older child

    A friend of mine is searching for good children's shoe websites. Anybody know of any good brands besides stride rite, preschoolians, and the usual suspects, etc? These would be for older kids and not pre or early walkers.

    TIA!

    Naturino, Primigi, Ecco.
    I've only tried Naturino, though.

    Hanna also sells Merrell, so I would guess they are good as well.

    Gotta second the Naturino's - my very favorite brand! My almsot 3 year old has very wide (as wide as Stride Rite makes) feet with a high instep. These fit very well, as do Puma tennis shoes (esp. the instep part). HTH!

    My son's foot is the same, it sounds. At Stride Rite he wears a wide, width-wise, but an extra-wide because of the height.

    THOUGH, his naturinos are just regular. The shopkeeper told my friend that American shoes run much more narrow. They seem to fit just fine, no marks. Though I know they are a bit big. I bought ahead and he insisted on wearing them anyway. That's my boy! =)

    Do you guys buy your Naturinos through the web or a local store? I'm having a ridiculously hard time finding sneakers for my son -- he's a Stride Rite 8.5 wide. The only sneaker style that they sell that I like is the Gilligan (very plain, no lights or characters) but I can only find it in stock online. It annoys me so much that they won't stock this style that I'm trying to find something else. Because the Naturinos are so expensive, I'd love to see them in person first.

    Thanks!

    of grief, and of getting past it;
    I feel my boots
    trying to leave the ground,
    I feel my heart
    pumping hard. I want
    to think again of dangerous and noble things.
    I want to be light and frolicsome.

    Their are other stride rite runners that come in a W, my son has one w/a basketball on the side but he's a 9W.

    Or did you mean your local shop doesn't carry any other styles? ;)
