Default Closed-Toe Sandals with 2 Adjustable Straps?

    Hi all,

I'm not a regular here but love all the great advice and have posted responses a few times when I've been able to.

Anyway, I'm trying to find the impossible I think. I really want DD (2 1/2) to have closed toe sandals for safety/tripping/toe protection. But her wide feet just don't fit comfortably into sandals unless they have the two adjustable strap design (ankle and top of foot) that is typical of open-toe sandals. Does such a thing exist?

    Thanks!

    Betty

I just happened to see these in the One Step Ahead catalog yesterday. It doesn't look like they come in wides, though.

Is your DD's foot wider than a Stride Rite wide? They do have some closed toe sandals in wides that might work, with an adjustable velcro ankle strap but not a toe strap (see the Scurry). I think construction wise, it would be difficult to make a velcro-at-the-toe shoe that didn't have some sort of hole in the toe area--it wouldn't flap over, otherwise, KWIM?

Elefanten makes one called the Issie that has a relatively small opening but has velcro at ankle and toe:

My DS takes a wide and Stride Rite works for him.

Thanks! I'll have to look at those.

The pair she has now is a cheap-y open toe one from Meijer that isn't even a wide, but they are so easy to put on and she seems so comfy in them. She fits great in normal Stride Right Wide Tennis Shoes, so I ordered a pair of Stride Rite TT Alicia in Wide. They are a standard closed toe sandal style. It's like I'm squeezing and pushing and squishing her foot to push it up in the top section. It was the same way last year with the Stride Rite Baby Guppy.

These don't have the dual adjustable straps you were asking about, but do have a closed to and they seem to run pretty wide (we have these):

Here's a pair with the dual straps, but not closed toe:

Overall, I've found Jumping Jacks brand to run pretty wide, even wider than Elefanten/Umi and Striderite. I don't think I've seen dual straps and closed toes in one shoe.

    Good luck!

    Default RE: Found Some!

They are pricey, and perhaps a little more rugged or sporty than you want, but Ricosta Kids makes a few dual strap closed toe styles. Here are a couple of examples, but a web search may turn up more:

    Betty,
I don't know if they carry them in the stores, but SR carries Extra-Wide sandals (Guppy) that might work better than the standard wide. The girls ones are white and have butterfly cutouts. You can order from SR directly if your local store doesn't carry the extra wides. They only go up to size 8, though, I don't know what size your DD wears.

    Thank you all so much!

The Ricosta ones are interesting - though definitely a bit rugged and big for my taste - I like her in little white and pink stuff. But that is definitely the design concept I was looking for.

The Extra-Wide Guppies might work - she's in a size 8 now. I'll have to order them when I return the other ones to ShoeBuy - gotta love free shipping both ways.

    Melissa,

Where you can buy Jumping Jacks?
Is there a retail store or on-line?
Are their sizes comparable to Stride Rite?

    TIA!
