I put them on DD when she is wearing casual dresses and jumpers and it is too cold to be bare legged but thin tights/hose seem too dressy and aren't durable enough for play. For instance last fall she wore the cream color with her Pingorama pumpkin dress and a handpainted pumpkin dress. I also put a white pair on with Bailey Boys and custom made jumpers (long sleeve tees or turtlenecks underneath the jumpers). She then wears socks and a more casual shoe. They are great because she can wear dresses but still run, crawl, climb, and play! When she wore one of these outfits to playgroup everyone wanted to know where to find the legging tights.

HTH, if I wasn't specific enough or didn't really answer your question let me know.

When you see them at Target, grab the colors/sizes you think you might want because they can be hard to find and sell out.

    I'd better check my stash! : )

Never tried Stride Rite (they always seemed like they have the market for this brand and they act like only they make good shoes- I don't know why I have that impression!). They make cute, good shoes but they don't get my vote. :)

We love our Teva sandals and Nike tennis shoes

Little Tikes (Carters' Target spin off) 2pc PJs

    Gap jeans, khakis and t-shirts

I like the bargain of the $3 Target Ts but the quality isn't awesome. Good enough though!

Lands' End clothes are always well made and comfy looking.

We have our shopping nitches and that's it- Gap, Target, Lands' End, Old Navy occasionally and the independent show store. Kohl's was great for a while but now they don't seem to have as many thing in his size, for that great price they had when ds was liittler.

Babystyle's "Softest" play clothes - gorgeous colors and generally last well. Plus, they really are soft. It's hard to find pretty colors for a boy, so I pretty much buy out their selection every season.
