Does the Elmo potty doll go 'potty'?

I'm hoping someone here will know the answer to this. I just bought one of these dolls, but it doesn't look like it really goes 'potty'-- he just says he does (or doesn't as the case may be.) It just doesn't seem like a very good training aid if Elmo doesn't REALLY produce IYKWIM. I plan to return if it doesn't, but don't want to open the box.
