    Default Travelling potty? or not?

Here's a situation where too much forethought and too little forethought meet in the middle. DD is 17 months. I bought a potty partly because DH is out of town so she comes to the bathroom with me and I thought, hey, why not get some use out of the situation? To my surprise, she seems to pretty well get the concept of what the potty's for, although she doesn't warn me if she wants to go or anything. But first thing in the morning I take her and she goes, and usually before her bath as well. And she totally knows what she's supposed to do, wants to stay until she pees and get off as soon as she does. Sounds promising, right?

Except we're going on a 2-week trip to Australia in September. Do I take a potty? If so, which travelling potty is good? I hate to give up our current progress, but at the same time, it's not like she's really trained or anything,

If you take a potty, I would suggest the little Baby Bjorn one (not the chair) or the On the Go Potty. (Or, if DC will go on a regular toilet, take a fold-up insert that won't take up much space).

It's a hard call. She's pretty young and it's more of a getting used to the idea of pottying, I think I'd probably take a break or take an insert for the regular toilet.

I definitely wouldn't take a regular potty chair to Australia.

My daughter was starting potty training when I went to England for 2 weeks earlier this summer. I didn't take a potty but when we got there I realized it was a good opportunity as we were together all day (usually she's at daycare). So I picked a cheap plastic one up at a drugstore (it looked like the Bjorn one in PPs post) it was only a few dollars, we used it while we were there and left it behind rather than lugging it on the plane. Wasteful I know but those things take up a lot of bag space!

Thanks for your help. I think we'll probably go with buying a cheap one there, although I might go to BabiesRUs and check out the travelling potties there. So far we haven't tried her on the grown-up toilet, and she's sooo little still that I'm a bit nervous about doing that, although the fold-up seats are certainly the most portable option.
