    Default Afraid of public restrooms

My DS is afraid of using the toilet in the public restrooms. I have the folding potty seat and he still will not go out of fear. Any suggestions? Is this a common fear? Just FYI, I think his fear started when the those automatic flushing toilets kept flushing the paper when I was trying to set up the potty. It freaked him out. Beware of automatic flushing toilets. It is hard to keep the sensor covered when you are dealing with a little one in those stalls.

You can use post-its to cover the auto sensor.

No advice, but we have the same problem. Between the flushing (even if it's not automatic, it still is too loud) and the fans, Nick rarely goes near them. At his school, we have had several field tips to the bathroom to show him they are "safe."

DS didn't like the folding potty seat. It wasn't secure enough for him.
