    Default Child safety seat laws

Does anyone know a web-site that outlines specific details of the child safety seat law? I am looking at a car seat for my 2 year old. She is over 30 lbs. so I'm wondering if I need to invest in a toddler seat with harness- that won't last until she's 6 years old (the new law) or if I can get a belt-positioning booster seat now. I've been to nhsta.org and it seems to indicate that a belt-positioning booster seat is for kids 40lbs and over, but Britax has 2 models that are for kids 3 years and 30 lbs- up to 80lbs. I'm wondering, based on her weight, if I could get one of those. It's so confusing!

I recommend re-posting this question in the Car Seats section of Baby Bargains; you'll get a quick reply (probably Monday) from Toby McAdams, a CPS tech who monitors that forum. She's extremely knowledgeable, and as a bonus, she's also a mom, and has tried a lot of the models that are on the market.

    Good luck!
