Default LATCH base for Britax seats

I'm about to get a larger car seat for my son, who now rides in a Britax Roundabout. We were thinking of getting the Marathon. He's small for his age, and I guess that up to 65 pounds will last him for a while! Two questions:
    1. Can you get an extra base for the new LATCH seats, so that you can switch the seat back and forth between two different cars more easily? Where? About how much?
    2. After reading about all the problems with adjusting the Marathon, I'm wondering if there's a better option?

Default RE: LATCH base for Britax seats

The Marathon does have LATCH, but the base is permanently attached. Unlike an infant carrier, you cannot buy separate bases with convertible car seats.

There are no other options than the Marathon for convertibles that are rated beyond 40 pounds. On the other hand, depending on the age and weight of your son, there are many other models that may work well for you.
