Default My 3 1/2 yr old daughter--- booster seat question.....

She is currently in an Eddie Bauer (Cosco) high back booster using the 5 pt harness. The straps are right at her shoulders , almost below her shoulders. She weighs 31 lbs. Is it okay to start using the car seat belt instead of the 5 pt one now?

Cosco combo seats have the lowest harness slots of any other combo choice...Technically, since the lower weight limit is 30 pounds, you *could* use the seatbelt, but you are giving up a fair amount of protection.
I think I would get a seat with higher harness slots, and keep her harnessed till 40 pounds (my ds is 40 pounds, age 6, 46 inches tall, and has just outgrown or is just about to outgrow harnessed combos with 17 inch slots...so you potentially could get a lot of use out of another seat!)

It's up to you, of course. If you feel she's mature enough for using the seat as a booster, and it fits her well, then that's a perfectly reasonable option.

Look here at these other combo seat choices (bottom half of page) http://www.car-safety.org/carseats.html

And, LOL, I have tried to invite other people to post on this board! I feel like such a board hog here! No one ever comes by, though ;)
