Not sure if you know this, but the Summit can't be used with the harness in the top slots/headrest position...that's for booster use only and fails crash testing with the harness... so if he's creeping up on those second-to-top slots, you'll have to retire that seat soon or switch it to a booster (top slots on the Summit are 14.5 inches, top slots on the Apollo are 16.8 inches, so probably more growing room in the Apollo, but it's not the best for sleep support is it?)
