Default Car/booster seat for under 2 yr old, nearing 30#

My son is currently 28 lbs, 20 months old, and in an Evenflo Triumph. I don't know exactly how tall he is but he is tall-- his head is almost to the top of the back. The label says that they are OK up to 30 lbs, so I guess it's time to look for a new one. Any suggestions?

We have to buy 3, so price is definately a factor. And our cars don't have LATCH. (1997 Chevrolet Lumina, 1998 BMW 323i, grandparents is a Jeep Grand Cherokee)

    Thanks so much!

Is your son RF or FF? RF the seat is ok until 30 lbs and then 40 lbs FF.

If you would like to turn your son back RF i would change this reccomendation,

Either Graco Ultra Cargo or Evenflo generations in each car- aprox $100 each.

If you can spend a little more on one seat i would get a Britax Marathon- your son is really young i would not put him into a Regent at his height and weight. Or Recaro combo seat- harness to 40 lbs and then BPB.

The first two seats are harness seats to 40 lbs and then BPB. The evenflo makes a better booster than the Graco. Where is your son in relation to the top slots of his seat?

Yeah, that's 30 pounds for rearfacing, 40 pounds for forward facing. You can use it till his shoulders are just over the top slots, or till the tops of his ears are even with the top of the seatback, or till he reaches 40 pounds, whichever comes first. That oughta buy you some time to look for deals on taller harnessed and/or higher weight seats (like the Regent or Cosco Apex, since he sounds like he might hit 40 pounds before he's the minimum age of 4 or 5 to sit in a booster seat).
