Need a booster seat that can also be used on a plane

I am new here. I have a 3 yr old dd that is over the height limit for her Marathon car seats, but she only weighs 38 pounds.

I need to buy new car seats very badly..I am worried she is going to crack her head on the top of the seat, but haven't been able to find reviews that cover height restrictions. It's very frustrating.

I want to get her a seat that looks like a seat, not a low 3 or 4" booster with only arm rests.

Can someone out there help me? I love Britax seats, but would be willing to convert if it's best.

Even the reviews I've read here for Britax seats mention large children, but don't mention height. We're travelling next month so we will need to find a seat we can take on an airplane.

The Apex has tall slots (19"), and can be harnessed until 65 lbs or until too tall. Its a huge seat, but is FAA approved (with the harness, as airline seats are lap only and not compatible with "boosters"). There has been some confusion on the Apex's height. There On another board, pictures were posted that pretty clearly show the top slot at 19" (1.5" inches more than the MA).

On the MA - how is your daughter outgrown? Are her shoulders above the top slots? FF its ok until that happens or until the tops of their ears are past the MA seat back. So, its OK for the top of their head to be past the top of the seat...

What's her torso height? Sit her along a wall, measure how far from floor to shoulder.

Really, since she's so tall and you like Britax-quality, I'd go with a Regent. Its VERY tall and has a weight limit of 80 lbs. Great choice for tall kids. It can't be used on an airplane though, so verify that she's outgrown on the MA (slots or ears).... If she still fits in the MA, that'd be ideal.

If you can find a Sunshine Kids Radian it might work...my 6.5 yo dd outgrew the Marathon a couple (well, about 6 now...time flies...) months ago but still has some growing room in the Radian, and it folds up for travel.

Maybe the Ridesafer travel vest, which can't be used on the plane, but is safer than a booster for use on the ground (for a little kid in the center, safer, that is) is easy to travel with, and might work.
