I'm going to cross-post this in the Toddler forums, but this place get's more traffic :)
I'm looking to move on from the simple board books Joshua has, it seems he's getting bored with them. So, what books is your 3 year old DC into these days?

Mama to "The Fantastic Four":
DS 02
DD 06
DS 09
DD 12
DS's absolute favorite is Chicka chicka Boom boom. I'm so sick of it. I hate it. Would you like a copy?
He likes books by David Shannon (both the No David series and the Duck series). What mom can't do and What Dad Can't do. Never, Ever, Shout in a Zoo. The Curious George Series. The Bug Safari. The LIttle Critter Series. The very humgry caterpillar.
We've also reading short chapter books. He's just gotten to the point of sitting long enough for a chapter and being able to imagine what's going on (if it's simple enough). Right now we're reading Stuart Little, which was going pretty well until Margalo flew the coop; she was his favorite. It takes us a really long time. I read a chapter or part of a chapter a day; I only go as long as he seems interested.
HTH,
Some of Kaleb's favorite books are,
Chicka, Chicka Boom Boom! and Chicka Chicka 1-2-3!
Dinosaurumpus
Curious George series
Thomas books
Five little monkey series. Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed, Wash the Car, and others - I think we have 5.
The History of the Ford Model T! Ok, most kids probably wouldn't get into that one but DS loves it! We have a Model T so that explains his interest I think! It's a 500+ page book and he and DH look at all the pictures and talk about the engine and how it works. It must be a guy-thing!!
I just started going to the library and checking out a bunch of books to see what he liked.
I have a list from our bookstore of the best books for that age range. You could check a bookstore or your library to see if they have one, or I'd be happy to send you my list if you're interested.
DS likes:
Anything from the Curious George series
Anything from the Franklin series
Hermie & Friends series (by Max Lucado - Christian themed)
"Rabbit books" as DS calls them by Alan Baker (his favorites are Brown Rabbit's Shape Book; Gray Rabbit's Odd One Out; and Little Rabbit's First Time Book)
Dora the Explorer books
Thomas books (he especially likes the Dr. Seuss ones, Go Train Go, Stop Train Stop and Crack in the Track (you can get them at TJ Maxx)
Little Miss Spider books by David Kirk
Books by Laura Numeroff (If You Give a Pig a Pancake, etc.)
Little Bear books
Trucks: Whizz! Zoom! Rumble! by Patricia Hubbell
Duck in a Truck (and to a lesser degree Fix It Duck) by Jez Alborough
We go to the library each week and DS picks whatever he wants to read, but we are heavily concentrated in Franklin and Curious George. :)
ETA: DS just received My Little Red Toolbox by Stephen Johnson as a gift and loves it. It's just as much as toy as it is a book, but it's very neat. You can take the tools out and use them in the book. http://search.barnesandnoble.com/boo...X&kids=y&itm=2
ETA: I can't believe I forgot the Hairy Maclary series by Lynley Dodd. We like Hairy Maclary and Zachary Quack the best.

Melissa,
Where did you find the Land of Many colors book? I checked on Amazon and it looks like a great book for kids. I grew up in Klamath County (OR)--I assume there isn't another one in the US--and had no idea the Y pre-school produced such a literary work!
TIA,
Mary
Mom to Jeremiah
We also love many of the ones posted here but we just got a new one that is a great hit. It is actually a book that's been around a while. My son loves Thomas and trains so if your child does they might like:
The Caboose that Got Loose by Bill Peet.
The illustrations are fantastic and it is written so that it rhymes. DS loves it!
