Thanks,

Thanks,
Mom to two beautiful DDs
Well, DS turned 3 on Monday and he received, and is enjoying:
More train stuff. (Thomas)
a fishing pole
matchbox police station and some cars
a Big Wheel
puzzles
musical instruments - piano and recorder
Among his friends, trains and puzzles are pretty popular items.

3 yo girls like anything Princess. Disney Princesses, or anything a Princess might like/wear. DD#1 got a Disney Princess folding camp/beach chair that she LOVES.
Craft stuff is always good. Maybe a tote bag and craft supplies for each. LE makes great canvas totes, but I don't think you'd get them in time.
Not sure what your budget is, but what about sleeping bags? DD#1 got one of those and I think that was her overall favorite. Hers is an actual camping one, but you could get character ones cheaper (Dora & Diego, or one Disney Princess and one Spiderman or something like that). DD used her's on the couch for days.
Ikea has an indoor tent that is pretty cheap. You could get cheaper sleeping bags and a tent for them....

LE has beach backpacks for kids. You could get those (enough time??) and throw in a beach towel, sunscreen, sunglasses, hat. I'm sure mom would love it!! :)

Board games are good too. DD#1 is just starting to get into board games.

hmmm. not sure about boys, but dd loved dress up stuff. Especially dress up shoes, necklaces. maybe a big obnoxious feather boa would be nice. I like to buy kids stuff that I know their parents wouldn't buy in a million years but I just know that they would. Boys- at 3 I'd say that sports stuff would be a good choice. Hot wheels are good,so's the train stuff.
Hmm.... Strawberry shortcake seems to be getting popular again, there's also always my little pony. DD loves her ponies, she gets them out and lines them up,does their hair and everything. I'd stay away from polly pocket at this age as well as littlest pet shop, too many pieces.
The dress up stuff is probobly you're safest bet. You could also get them drawing stuff. They might be cutting and pasting already but you might ask their parents. Fingerpaints are always good, but I'd try to get the kids some cheap smocks along with it just in case they don't have any.
Does the little girl have a doll house that you could buy pieces for? Is the little boy into cars movie items? My ds loves the movie and anything to do with it.
Baby doll accesories are good also. A stroller, clothes or diapers would be things that her mother might not want to spend money on but would make good gifts.

Board games are my go to 3yo gift. Specialty toy stores will usually sell the awesome game brand, Ravensburger, which has lots of great games. You can also get the classics like Candy Land, Chutes and Ladders, Memory, some Cranium games, or something else for 3+.

Ds loves his dress up stuff. :) We stock up on Halloween costumes and scrounge stuff (hats, shirts, bandanas...) from family.

DS is now 3.5 years old. He asked me for Superman cape a couple of days ago. He was & is still into Thomas, Hot Wheels airplanes, Hot Wheels cars. He saw a remote controlled helicopter at a festival this past week-end and wanted it (Mommy said no :-( ) He has a remote controlled car and loves it.
O yes, Richard Scarry's "Cars and Things that Go", and "What do people do everyday" (or something like that) are favorite books.
