    Default Thermometer for Toddler

I was just thinking the other day that it may be time to change thermometers. I'm still using a rectal thermometer on my 29 month old. What is good and what isn't? I have no clue where to even start looking. Ear? Thermoscan? Regular Digital? HELP!

Since DS was born I've always used the Exergen Temporal Artery Scanner (I think it may have a slightly different name now). You scan it across the forehead or behind the ear. It is fast and accurate. I highly recommend it.

I use a regular digital on my children. For the younger ones I usually put it under their arms and can get a reading in under a minute. I once had an ear thermometer and didn't like it at all. My children didn't like having something in their ears and I found it to be unreliable and overpriced. Good luck!
