Default How would you keep summer party guests cool?

It's time to plan DD's 2nd birthday party for August. Does anyone know how I could host an outdoor party and keep the guests cool at that time of year? Just hope for a good day? We haven't utilized our patio much, and I thought a cookout might be nice. An alternative would be to check out using the community club house and have a pool party. Thoughts?

How about giving out some of those little fans that spray a mist of water as party favors? I'm sure the kids will have a blast "fanning" everybody! My friend saw these at Target and I keep meaning to buy a couple to use while DS plays outside.

I'd probably have the party in the late afternoon (i.e. 4-6) if it works with your DD's nap schedule. That way the sun won't be beating down on people. Other than that, it's summer, and people expect it to be hot! I wouldn't worry about it too much. A pool party for 2 year olds sounds like it would be a big PITA, but that's just me. I think your idea of having it out on the patio sounds great.
