Default Anyone been to Nags Head or Cape Hatteras, NC?

Hi. We are going on a little family vacation in October to Cape Hatteras. We'll be stopping by Nags Head on the way there. Do you know of any good places to eat and stay during our trip? We'll be traveling with a 21-month old. We're looking forward to the sand and water. :) Thanks!

    Hello,

We're back from our trip and had a great time! It was very relaxing and low-key, and the people were very friendly in North Carolina. We flew into Norfolk, VA and drove 1 1/2 hrs to Kill Devil Hills, where we stayed at the Comfort Inn North and visited the Wright Brothers Memorial and Jockey's Ridge (a gigantic sand dune that people were actually rolling down!). The motel was basically just a place to sleep with a microwave, fridge and pack n play in the room. Behind the motel was the beach/ocean. Continental breakfast was included. The was a nearby Food Lion for supplies. We ate at Dirty D-i-c-k's, which had decent seafood. Next, we drove 1 hr down to Buxton, where we stayed at the Lighthouse View motel and cottages. Our oceanfront room had a view of the pool and beach/ocean. It also had a microwave/fridge/pack n play (pick up the pack n play at the office), but no breakfast. Connor's supermarket was nearby and dinner was at the Tides (very crowded and kinda slow, so we had to leave early and pack up the food) and at the Fish House (not crowded, nice view, excellent seafood!). We visited the Cape Hatteras lighthouse and basically spent the whole time there at the beach and Jada loved it! The water was cold in Oct, but the weather was mild (highs in the high 60's to 70's). There were only the fishermen, surfers, and us. Highly recommended, but next time we might go in Sept instead of Oct so the temperature will be warmer.
