Question about Boston attractions

I'm hoping someone in the Boston area may be able to point me in the right direction.

We are planning an overnight trip to Boston next month. We'd like to take our 6 yo to the aquarium and the museum of science, but the prices are so expensive. It will cost about $100 for the 3 of us for just these 2 places!

I thought maybe I could check out library passes to save some $$$, but we are as far as you can get from Boston in the state of MA. It would be a major hassle getting to the library to pick up passes beforehand (they will not send via interlibrary loan to our local lib). Plus, their aquarium passes are not even useable in the summer!

So, I am wondering if any discount coupons exist anywhere?? I am just trying to cut costs if at all possible!

It bundles lots of attractions together, will cost more than $100 but you get sooooo much more. I used to drive the Trolley Tours and highly recommend them to get a good overview of the city and to use as transportation around the city.
If you don't want to get the go card, you can join the Roger Williams Zoo for a $59 family membership it gets you into the NE Aquarium also and it's a year membership so you can go in and out multiple times. (you can join the zoo online, and it is a great zoo if you are going anywhere near RI)

I was also going to suggest the Boston Go card. Or the City Pass. I haven't purchased either but have heard good things. I think with the City Pass you can also get into the Pru observatory?

Or if you are a member in the science museum at home, you may be able to get in free to the Boston Museum of Science.

We were just in Boston and the NE Aquarium and it doesn't seem to have changed that much from when I was in college. It's an ok aquarium but if there is a nice aquarium near your home or if there are other activities that you would prefer to do then I would skip it. My kids just love any aquarium so they are happy.

Just a tip, since we just returned from Boston. The Children's Museum was such a big hit with our 5yo and 2yo. It won hands down over the Aquarium, which was dark, humid and crowded. Plus, waaaayyy cheaper!
