Default Places to go in Boston (Brookline)?

We're going on a trip soon to Boston, near Brookline. Can anyone recommend a hotel, restaurants, and things to do with our 3 & 5 yr olds? Thanks!

we were north of boston on the beach for most of our vacation -
but we did go into the city one day.

I would say to go to the children's museum!
I took our almost 3 year old and had a great time!

We then took the MTA to the science museum where DH and DS were.
It was not a place for little ones - DS (3) was going crazy.
There was a small butterfly exhibit we went to
(only went in because we are museum members in Dallas and could get in for free) http://www.mos.org/

The Duck Tours looked like fun...but they were out of tickets when we tried last minute http://www.bostonducktours.com/

We stayed at the La Quinta in Andover

It was a great hotel - a bit outside of the city itself,
but had an indoor swimming pool, free breakfast, free wi-fi - there was a chili's next door -

and the best part was that I was looking around and clicked on the special deals part of the website and we ended up getting the room for $49! ($53 total with tax!)

The Children's Museum sounds perfect. Wow--that $49 La Quinta deal is still available. Thanks so much!

The New England Aquarium is also excellent for kids of all ages.

Andover is pretty far from Boston, so keep that in mind; it's at least a 1/2 hour drive into the city. May be worth the price though; can't beat $49/night! Definitely go to the Children's Museum, which has been recently renovated and expanded; it was terrific before, even better now. The New England Aquarium is also a must. If the weather is nice when you come, a stroll around the Boston Common is really fun for kids. The swan boats are super for kids to ride on but they may have already shut down for the season (you can easily find out online). The Make Way for Ducklings statues are a huge hit with kids around the ages of yours, and these are also in the Common. There were some threads about Boston area attractions recently, if you can't find them let me know and I can search for them.
