Wish we'd have found "Your New House" before we bought our third new home. It probably would've steered us away from the seriously defective home we got.

But we did find online help from Homeowners Against Deficient Dwellings, http://www.hadd.com and we've gotten farther in our case than most people do. HADD told us what the gov't agencies, etc, knew but were not going to volunteer to inform us about. We managed to get our builder disciplined by HUD/FHA, got out of arbitration with a warranty company, and of course got the moral support and information exchange that helped us to WANT to continue fighting.

Now, we have a copy of "Your New House," and we have gotten two couples we know, who are building homes soon, to get a copy too. Hopefully they'll be spared the difficulties we've had, by being forewarned about all the things you can't find out from the Better Business Bureau, Attorney General's office, your realtor, etc.
