Default Directions for dying wool with Kool-Aid (yes you read that right)

Ok ladies- this is totally easy I promise.
*Choose the color of Kool-Aid you want and buy 2-4 packets depending on how bright you want it. I used 4 with mine.
*Mix a gallon of water with about 2c. vinegar in the sink and soak your wool in it for about 10 minutes. Make sure the wool is soaked. through, the vinegar is what makes the KoolAid set.
*squeeze the wool out and set in a glass pan with sides
*pour most of the Kool Aid on the wool
*Stick it in the microwave for 5 minutes- yes the wool goes in the microwave- just watch it.
*Let it cool for 10 minutes, flip it over (USE GLOVES!!!)and heat in the microwave for another 5 minutes.
*The water in the pan should be clear
    *Let cool completely (10-15 minutes)
    *Rinse out
*Stick back in the sink of vinegar/water
Wash with wool wash and relanolize. :)
I have very minimal bleeding onto my dipes, and whatever does get on it comes out in the wash.
Hope this inspires some creative Kool-Aid masterpieces! Enjoy!

Thanks! Now I need to buy some Kool-Aid to try! Did you use sugar-free?

just regular Kool- aid (or generic) since when you make it as a drink you add sugar. the sugar free has artficial sweeteners in it. :)

Default Would this work for cotton.....

Can you use this method to dye cotton, hemp or tee-shirts? I don't have any wool but wondering if this would work for cpf, cotton fannel or even a t-shirt.

No- I recall reading that Kool- Aid only stays on mohair, angora, wool and silk. It would probably work on cotton, but would fade quickly. :)

no it has to be from something that was alive, living, breathing.

Like, it will dye your fingernails and your hair and stain your skin. :)
