I'm glad to have supplied you with a new favorite word. ;)

And Liza, not that you asked, but if a customer randomly decides that she doesn't like the color (as opposed to you sending a navy instead of a royal or some such), I don't think you have to refund anything, especially if it's a custom order. You're not responsible for an individual customer's flakiness.

Default RE: Monkey Cover: What Would You Do?

ITA! I got some diapers from one of my favorite WAHMs and they were on the small side. They still fit, but they were on the biggest setting and it was just a little too snug for comfort. The WAHM actually told me to use one of them for now (the one that fit the best) send back the rest on her nickel and she remade everything for me in a larger size. How's that for CS?!

Okay, here's my review of the monkey cover:

First off, I would say it's comparable to most mediums that I've come across. I have a medium orange blossom wool wrap (side aplix, though) and they're about the same size. My large wool, Cosmic Baby Shop side snapping wool cover is about 6-7 inches longer in the rise--I'm not kidding! Now granted, the wool cover is a little on the large side, but 7 inches is a huge difference!

Kaya's measurements are a little unique in that she has a smallish waist (16"), short rise (13", but 16" in PFs), and large thighs (10" in PFs). But this cover barely covers her diapers in the rise:

    http://www.windsorpeak.com/dc/user_files/15241.jpg
In this one, the cover is worn over a pocket fitted, which is actually quite trim on her. The cover barely makes it over the rise.

    http://www.windsorpeak.com/dc/user_files/15242.jpg
In this one, the cover is worn over a snappi'd prefold. From the back, when she's on her tummy, it looks okay.

    http://www.windsorpeak.com/dc/user_files/15244.jpg
In this one, the cover is worn over a snappi'd prefold, but she's standing up. As you can see, the leg is sort of peeking out on the left side. I really had to tuck in the legs when I put this over the prefold. It barely fits over it.

    http://www.windsorpeak.com/dc/user_files/15243.jpg
In this one, you can see it barely covers the rise in the front and the side is peeking out again.

It did okay in terms of containing her wetness, but of course, she hasn't had a really wet diaper yet! I'm concerned that I might get leakage around the legs, and definitely out the top. Kaya is only 16.5 pounds (barely) and while she is chunky around the legs, a large cover should fit much better than this does. I have both fleece and wool pull-on covers from Angelluvs that are also on the small side for large covers, but even they are larger in the rise by at least an inch, and of course, they are somewhat stretchier. I guess I can't complain about the price, but I'm disappointed that Kaya might not be able to wear this for very long! Like I said, all of my other large covers are at least an inch longer and will last a lot longer, and my one medium cover is longer in the rise, but about the same width as this one. I'm not sure what can be done, but I do think that if this is a fledgeling business, she should do her best to make this right with everyone. She could always take these back and sell them as the size smaller or as seconds, IYKWIM? I would be interested to see what other people have to say.

    Eileen,

First, Kaya is too cute! You are one lucky mama :)

Second, if i read correctly your monnkey cover is a large? Wow! A large not large enough for a 7 month old (average-sized) baby! My medium elbee wooly bully is still on fairly tight snap setting. wow.

Late to the thread :) but I went back to look at the pics.

First of all, forget about the design being off-centered - the cover does not fit!!!! She should take the cover back just for that fact alone!! If her size chart is "off", she's responsible for replacing the cover. And I don't understand how the changing the wording would off-center the design???????

GEEZ!!!! I had no problem exchanging my brand-new Kiwi Pie cover with Maria - she's wonderful. I ordered the wrong-size and she gladly offered to make a new one!! and man, she's swamped with Hyena orders :)

    Keep us updated!

She used a less than 6 month old baby to set the sizing chart? Huh???

She needs to replace the cover, IMO. There is a problem with the sizing AND with the design placement. Both are her fault, not yours. And I think that the $10 "fee" that she is trying to charge is absolutely ridiculous.

Well, like Liza, I am also a nonconfrontational type person. However, I do have to agree with Lori that the size is more of an issue. I have plenty of covers that aren't nearly as cute, but they will fit DD for long time. I went back and checked the sizing chart that she gave Rashmi and it said that a medium should fit 12-22 pounds and a large should fit 14-33 pounds. Now, Kaya is only 16.5 pounds; no way she'll be able to fit the large next month. And there's absolutely no way she could fit a medium! I think I'm going to e-mail her and (nicely) complain about the sizing. Rashmi, do you have an e-mail address for her? I received an invoice from the webmaster, but I don't know if it would be the address to contact her, since she never did e-mail me to confirm the order ahead of time.

edited to change sizing range, according to the website

If there weren't a problem with her sizing in general (as it seems), I'd say the medium is an if-ier issue. After all, the pound range is never exact (and the website probably says that). If your DD were 10 lbs and it was tight on her, that's another story, but she's already up near the high end. It doesn't hurt to ask though! Feedback is important.

Right. Well the problem is that this cover is a large, and Kaya is down near the low end.
