"Home-made" mini shower??

I know in the past there was talk about doing this. Has it worked for anyone? Since I am venturing into cloth, the least amount of $$ spent would be great! :)

I bought one and would recomend it. The amount of money you save Cding covers the cost of a little luxury like a mini shower. If you do a seach of posts on this board there was a post I put up about 2 months ago about good deals on mini-showers and someone found one for about $25 which I don't think you could make one for less. Unless you really understand plumbing (or have a friend who does) I don't hink you really save that much making your own mini-shower.

I did see that thread. I asked DH if he could do it, and he thought he could. He put a new pedestal sink and toilet in our remodeled bath. Maybe I will have hime try one and buy another for our other bath.

I thought I would go the save money and make my own route, but it scared DH after it was done. It did indeed work but he was afraid that if it ever started to leak or loosen over time we would have a flooded house since the pressure to the toilet is so high.

So I ended up getting a Little Squirt used off of Ebay and it has been wonderful. I would skip making one and just buy one. You can also get a good deal through a coop. It just isn't worth the flood risk to me. The home made one just had too many connections to it where as the Little Squirt is designed to withstand the pressure and doesn't have all the extra connections.

I made one. Here's the link, with instructions. I'm not a plumber, and my plumbing knowledge is very limited, and it was a PITA. It works fine so far and is waiting to be put to the daily test in a few weeks!

I would probably buy one if I had it to do over again ;)

After reading the "make your own" thread, I bought one for $24 from the AP consignment store. If you buy any other product in the store, shipping is free, too.

We haven't installed it yet, so I don't know how it compares to the one I bought for $35, but it looks very nice.

Well, when you think about it, it looks like it has everything, including a back flow regulator, for roughly the same cost as buying the parts.

If DH doesn't get that super-handy-he-man rush by just installing what somebody else put together, you can always smile sweetly at him and say, "But dear, your time is valuable, too. Now you have extra time to [I'm sure you'll think of something he can do around the house]." And think of all the money you'd save on duct tape. ;)
