My precious angel was born April 9, 2003 at 3:26 pm. As you know I went in for an induction at 6 am Wednesday. When we arrived they put me on the monitors and found I was already having contractions every 2-4 min., but they were too light to make anything happen for my cervix even though I was already at 3 cm. So the pitocin was started, and we had trouble getting into a good contraction rhythm until about 11 am. We knew that just after noon my doctor was coming in to break my water since I was only at 4 cm, and they said the contractions would get much more intense. I decided to have the epidural placed but no medicine put through until the doc broke my water. (It was a terrific decision, since I was able to have the epidural placed while contractions were still tame.) Indeed the contractions picked up in intensity, I had the epidural activated, and until 2:45 all was easy. I started feeling the pressure to push and they found I was at 10 cm. I pushed for a total of 14 contractions and it really only got intense for the last 2. I was never so glad for the epidural!! Logan’s shoulders got a little stuck, but all wound up okay and we didn’t need the vacuum extraction that I did with my first. My little guy weighed in at 9# 9oz, and was 20 1/2 inches long. Thank God that I was induced a little early, because the doctor said he would have been over 10 # if we had let him wait another week. My husband, Tom, was just fabulous and supportive through the whole thing. I am very blessed, a great husband, and now two awesome sons. And I must say Logan is just gorgeous, I hope to get a picture online soon! Thanks for all *your* help and support, this board is wonderful. Thanks for letting me share my excitement!
