pouch sling - what's a rail?

I'm thinking ahead to #2....and already know I'd like a pouch sling. But, what's a rail? And what does it do?

So far, I'm thinking of: KKAFP or KKACP, chic papoose, or momnme (I know, they're closed right now). Any others I should research?

A rail is typically - extra fabric/extra padding along the outer seams of the pouch - to prevent red marks on chubby thighs.
