Default Great everyday backpack that can convert to shoulder bag?

I guess I want the best of both worlds. Does anyone know of and have experience with a diaperbag than can be both a backpack and shoulder bag? I don't want to spend too much, but I want something that will last, hold necessities, and be possibly stylish? Any suggestions would be much appreciated! Please be specific, I am new at this!!

By the way, these message boards have been invaluable! I have learned so much and received so many ideas! You all are wonderful!

I have 2 I'm Still Me diaper bags. Both are backpacks that convert to a regular tote bag easily. They fit 3 of your criteria: they are stylish, hold necessities, and will last - the workmanship on them are excellent. I don't know what you mean when you say you don't want to spend too much...these bags are around $70 plus shipping. I think they are well worth the price, but they are not what I would call inexpensive. Here's the website address:

    Hope that helps!

    Thanks, Carmen!

I really like the look of the bags. Did you get any of the accessories? If not, what do you use for the changing pad and dirties?

You can get a changing pad at BRU for about $5, and Ziploc bags are my favorite for dirties. So don't let the lack of "accessories" scare you away from any bag!

I have a Petunia Picklebottom Boxy Backpack. There are two sets of straps - one for the shoulder and two for the backpack part. I personally don't even use it for the backpack and took those off but the option is there to do so if I chose to use it that way. The PP bags come in neat Asian silk fabrics and each have an attached changing pad. The downside of this is that as your baby grows they outgrow the pad but I've just bought a $5 pad and keep it in there Like the ISM bags not the cheapest things in the world but very durable. I've beat the heck out of mine throwing it in and out of the car, wrapping around stroller handles, etc., and it still looks great.

I just won a new bumble bag off of ebay for $74. It's the blue turquoise flowered one here. It also is a messenger/backpack.

I'm also lusting after the Fleurville Alpha 7 with the Fiesta Stripes. This is going to be my next purchase-too cute!

Heidi was this from a random seller or from the company themselves? Just trying to add them to my list of favorite searches so I can check back.

It's a great looking bag, btw.

I completely agree with what Lori said! I did get the changing pad and dirties pouch with my first bag, but did not get any extras with my second. I don't think it matters at all if your changing pad matches your bag. By the way, if you are interested in ISM bags, they have started running a special bag on 20% off each month. Last month it was the Ladder Abstract. I don't know if they are going to do one this month or not!

Yeah, who'd you buy it from, Heidi? I've had my eye on that exact same bag for a while. You will have to post a review once you've used it for a bit. It looks fabulous, so I'm dying to know if it's functional, too!

The seller is babywear03. They don't have much feedback, so I think that they are still experimenting with selling on ebay. They had 8 different of the bumble bags for sale on ebay within this last week. The most popular one was the "Hot Mama" style that you see on their website. When I paid with paypal, I noticed that it was the designer that was selling the bags! It was her name on the paypal account that I paid. Her name is Jenni Lynn Johanson:

I'll post a review once I receive it. Someone else (maybe her assistant) sent me a note saying that it would ship today, so it should be here soon.

Here are some of the other auctions that I had saved in "my ebay" of the other bumble bags. I also liked the striped Bumble bag with the crystals, but I'm holding out for the fleurville Alpha 7 Fiesta bag!!!
