Default Here's a journal in process-I waited to post it

This is one of the first families who I have seen who have turned down two referrals...I felt it a personnal choice and personnal decisions, and kind of human emotions at their most vulnerable time and I didn't feel like I had the right to share such true emotions openly. They almost came home without sticking it out...
and glad to say it looks like everything is going great. I fear wanting siblings might put us in a situation like theirs...

Wow, what a story. Sounds like it is having a happy ending (or at least middle, if they end up going back). Maybe it is a good thing you want to travel in January, Neve, there won't be any kids in summer camp then! And hopefully the staff will all be back from any Christmas vacations then too.

Neve- I was curious - it seemed to me that they turned down one referral and ran out of time on their appointment the first time. I'm sure this is not how it is, but I've pictured this giant alarm clock - "O.K., you have ten more mintues, tne more minutes to find your children." Kind of like the worst timed test you've ever taken. Can you explain that? Or did I just not read carefully enough and they did turn down a referral the first time.

    Thanks,

Holly, I think it is much as you describe!!!!
I suspect from what I read that if much of this is decided on who you hire as your facilitator, though you'll have some swear there are no "favorites" over there I think it is obvious human nature that they work differently with some than others.

Now this couple is using my facilitator...and this really is the only journal I have witnessed with so much uncertainity there BUT with that said I noticed (and have never heard this said I could be adding 2 and 2 and getting 5) that they were shown (pictures) of two children that were a slam dunk for them BUT when the call was placed to the orphanage to announce they were coming these children were in Spain, I THINK this threw the NAC in a whirl wind as to what to do, they had no children to offer them that fit their request and I have always thought they try to "match" children maybe in hours before the appt with couples of the facilitators that are well liked. So if these children were avaialble this story would have been so much more streamlined.

Now I did read a journal of a couple that traveled and had an appt the first day AFTER their Christmas of Jan 7 or 8th...and they claimed to have been only one of two couples at the NAC that day, evidently folks don't like traveling in Jan due to cold, they just had Christmas, companies frown on that etc... SO after reading that journal I am praying for that day to have an appt. Though again I could be adding 2 and 2 and coming up with 5.

Also, and I am just realizing this...but these summer months have Directors etc on vacation and thus these orphanges might not be updating their children becoming available due to this. I have concluded recently due to that and the "spain" kind of trips that summer is not the ideal time to go.

BUT yes I too imagine that huge clock, for many this is very stressful.

My friends who adopted the two older boys (journal was posted a about 6 weeks ago as "older children") ran out of time and the NAC must have liked them for they told them to come back after lunch. They had been shown their boys prior to lunch and kept looking over them...after lunch her hubby grabbed their picture and said "why do we keep looking over these two boys"...

You will hear often "expect the unexpected"...

Thanks for sharing this. He's beautiful! The "group poop" picture is one of the funniest I've seen in a long time!

Looks like they are getting an adorable little boy!! I love reading these journals and seeing how very much the children are wanted and cherished by their new family.
