Anyone here tried adoptive nursing? Suggested resources?

Hi,

I'm curious if anyone reading this folder has tried adoptive nursing. If so, would you mind sharing how it went, whether you brought in full, or most milk necessary, etc? What age was your baby when you began? Also, any resources or suggestions you might share that were helpful.

I'm a La Leche League Leader. A mom in our group has induced lactation for 2 adopted kids. She has had to supplement (via SNS) with both kids. The links below have some info that you may find useful. Good luck!!! Just remember that the bonding from nursing and the antibodies you produce are a big advantage no matter how much milk you provide. Every drop is liquid gold!!

Try going to your local LLL meeting and see if they know of anybody that has induced lactation. Talking to someone who has BTDT, can be a powerful boost.

I found this website to be helpful when I was researching adoptive nursing. I wish I had been able to do it with my daughter because nursing my son was such a wonderful experience. Good luck finding information.
