Default Should fighting sleep be physical??

Is this a problem? My 3 month old son tends to get very physical when fighting sleep - kicking, flailing arms, turning his head. It's almost like he's having convulsions! I have to wrap the blanket around him so he doesn't kick me in the leg (we co-sleep, and I often try to nurse him lying down). It's no better when we sit up to nurse, he just keeps squirming around. When he's getting close to sleep, he calms down, and sleeps just fine. I'm just a bit worried about this aerobic workout of his. Should I be?

My 3 month old does the same thing - he's very feisty. Swaddling him tightly has helped a bit - he gets his arms out no matter what - but the swaddling calms his legs a bit.
