Default Combo feeding (breast milk and formula)

One bit of information I wish I had was that formula is not BAD for the baby. I wanted to breastfeed, but needed to supplement with formula, and while I was freaked out about giving my son formula, it did help him gain weight and be more comfortable.

I was totally stressed in the hospital because my son was not gaining weight and they wanted to give him formula. I wish I had known to relax about it and allow it to happen without worrying so much about the "damage" a bottle would do.

My son has gone back and forth from bottle to breast very well, and I was told that some docs think nipple confusion doesn't exist.

I'd appreciate it if any books recognized that a child doesn't have to be 100% breast fed, a little formula won't harm the baby and sometimes it is beneficial to give mom a break and baby the extra calories it needs.
