    Default Fleece Poncho

Has anyone made one...or have directions on how to? I would think its a pretty easy no sew project....just wondering if anyone has tried this? Im also looking for a cute fleece hat. Any ideas where to look?

I am hoping someone else posts also. This is on my list of "I need to get done before Christmas" but we'll see. Here is what I dug up quickly, I promise I will dig more tonight. http://sewing.about.com/library/ucpaulacummings.htm
I am planning to make a pattern based on my kiddos measurements and using newspaper to design it. I will sketch it first, then try to make a pattern that will be super simple. The hard part will be that I am hoping to add a hood. If you don't sew at all, the only issue I can come up with it the neckline and finishing it somehow. Otherwise it is basically a circle or square with the neck cut out, then either fringing or scalloping the edges (either with a scissors).

I haven't made one myself, but here's a link to a site with instructions:

    http://www.metrocast.net/~hayes/sew_poncho.htm

If the link doesn't work, the main page is at gypsymama.com. I believe the WAHM who runs the site is Kristi and posts frequently on the yahoo babywearing group site. HTH!

I'm not confident in my sewing ability to just make-up my own pattern, so I bought the sewbaby one.

    Here's my earlier post
    http://www.windsorpeak.com/dc/dcboar...ng_type=search

I tried to scallop the edges but I didn't pull the fabric hard enough to be super wavy.

The pattern is basically a half circle with a half circle for the neck part.

If you need more info like how much fabric to buy I can tell you what the pattern recommends for either a round or fringed poncho.

Hmmm. A knit or crochet poncho can just be two rectangles, each on an angle. The short end of one rectangle is joined to the bottom of the long end of the other rectangle to form the front, then repeated to form the back. I'd think that you could use the fleece blanket fringe approach to join the pieces (you'd have to cut them differently, though, not as two rectangles or you would have no fringe). Gosh, that sounds like it would be pretty cute!!

You might want to look for some simple knit or crochet patterns to see the dimensions of the rectangles and how they are assembled. Try this pattern, scroll down for assembly instructions:

Lori, you had me so confused trying to figure out what you meant regarding joining the rectangles, until I saw the photo on LionBrands site. Lol, then it was like a big ol' light bulb turned on. ;-) I feel so thickheaded sometimes!
