    Default Brother sewing machine

    Hi Ladies,
I am looking for an inexpensive medium quality sewing machine that would be used relatively infrequently, but is not a piece of junk. I did a search on posts here and it seems that in terms of low-end machines, brother is better than singer. I am almost a total novice, so this would be a real learning machine. I want one with an automatic buttonholer. I saw this at Wal-mart, Anyone have it or have any comments on the features it has/lacks?
Thanks in advance, you ladies are always so helpful!

I have a different model brother (several years old) and it has taken a lot of use and abuse and it still works great! Any mine was the cheaper less then $100 model. I use mine for making quilts, blankets, even an apron using a heavy duck cloth and it worked like a champ. Especially if its going to be used very little I think its a great machine and well worth the money. Hope you like it.

My Mom got one of the Brother machines from Costco and loves it. She is a pretty serious quilter and got it to be her "portable" machine. It was about $200.

I just made a maternity skirt last night with clearance fabric from Jo-Ann, Not the best job, but you can't tell if I wear a long shirt. Jo-Ann had these pre-made maternity panels that I ended up using...
