HELP

My lease stipulates that I can not do anything "permanent" to the walls of my apartment.
My nursery furniture and bedding looks adorable, but the WHITE walls are driving me crazy. I tried hanging some framed prints from my favorite children's books, which helps a little, but it still looks too bare. Any suggestions? TIA!

We don't know the baby's gender.

I hung the quilt that went with my baby bedding. It's suggested that quilts and blankets not be used in the crib anyway, so I put mine on the wall as decoration and it actually pulled the room together since it's the only thing I have on my walls!

Also, if you put up a mobile, that may take up some wall space, if your crib is next to a wall.

There was a coop/group discount offered for Oompa on the "deals" board here, but I dont know if it's still going on now.

What about colorful curtains? You can hang them wider than the window actually is to get more effect from the color.

Doesn't permanent mean something that you can't undo, such as say putting in a window? You can always repaint, so wouldn't that be kind of "removable" or temporary?

Another less permanent option is to use fabric. On the show "Room by Room" they use starch to stick it to the wall. You can just pull it down whenever you want. You should be able to find instructions on the HGTV website. www.hgtv.com My biggest hang-up on that would be the cost of fabric. I mean you would need yards of the stuff.

I think the "hanging a quilt" idea is really good, and you can hang extra curtain panels for extra color.

I know how you feel about white walls. It would drive me plum nuts. I'd probably paint and either repaint or eat the security deposit.

We're in a rented house and in the same situation. I was thinking of getting one of those stuffed animal slings (sort of like a hammock) and hanging it on the wall and filling it with animals. Plus, it's safe because stuffed animals shouldn't be in the crib with an infant. Also, what about a bookcase? You could probably pick one up at a yardsale and paint it a funky color. Finally, when my parents first moved into their house and had no money, my mom took a bit piece of fabric that matched the curtains and stapled it to a big wooden frame -- instant art!

I would call the management office and ask. Our lease at an Avalon property said the same. We asked and were told it was ok to paint the walls as long as we repainted them the original color before we moved. I painted our nursery yellow and when we moved in Jan. the office told me where to buy the correct color white. We repainted and had no problems. I even used the extra paint to touch up scuffs around the apt. - worked out well for us.
