Default Need craft idea for first birthday party

Andrew's first birthday party will be on Sunday. There will be 5 preschoolers and 5 infants. I need a simple and fun activity for the preschoolers. The theme is Elmo.

Most of the attendees are my DH's family and the party is at my in-laws. DH suggested that I keep it simple and not require too much parent involvement for a successful project.

    Any ideas?

    TIA,

You could do Elmo masks. Have all of the pieces pre-cut, then help the kids glue on eyes, nose, etc. Attach with a piece of ribbon. Would make for some cute pictures!

You could just print out some Elmo coloring pages.

You could do an a full size Elmo- cut out face, arms, legs, etc. and attach with brads so the arms and legs move. I highly recommend googly eyes- they are always a big hit! Just make sure all of the kids are old enough that the brads won't be a choking hazzard.

You could decorate Elmo cookies- but that would probably get pretty messy.

    Lori,
Thanks for the great ideas! I think I'm going to try the masks and I do have coloring books for everyone too.

Glad I could help- I love that kind of stuff! You might be able to make a pattern from one of the coloring book pics- just enlarge it and cut it into pieces. It's sometimes easier to make a couple of copies in case you need to cut through certain areas to get to others, kwim?
