Homemade Slime
2 cups white glue (like Elmer's)
2 cups water
1 teaspoon borax
Liquid food coloring
*Pour glue into a mixing bowl. Slowly add 1.5 cups of water
and several drops of food coloring.
*In another bowl, dissolve borax in 1/2 cup of water.
*Add dissolved borax to glue mixture. Knead for 10 minutes,
until the slime separates between your fingers. Let slime
condense in an airtight container overnight before using.
Store in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.

Thanks Corie for posting this. Have you tried this recipe yet?
I made Martha Stewart's version last week with my nephew and was disappointed. It was really thick, very gooey and didn't stick to any paper. Not what I was hoping for. We'll give this recipe a try next time.
On the good side, it was all cheap ingredients that I had on hand and my nephew had fun :)
Erin,
We haven't made the fingerpaint yet! Wish I could give
you some feedback!
(My husband is the brave one that does the messy projects!
He just tells me to stay out of the kitchen until they are
done! Otherwise, I tend to freak out when I see frosting, etc.,
all over the floor, countertops, faces, arms, clothing, etc, etc.)
Let me know how it turns out!! :) By the way, you are
a FABULOUS aunt!

Wow, Corie!!! Thanks for all those recipes. I'll have to try some. I'm the "make messes" parent in our house. DH gets really uptaight about them for some reason. Considering I do most of the housework, I'm not sure why that is.

Another solution is to put the uncolored playdough into a zipper freezer bag and then add the color. You can knead the color in while it's in the bag and not worry about your hands getting covered.
Also- try using liquid watercolor if you can find it.

Cool recipe! You can also use vanilla pudding and food coloring!
