You know that ready-to-assemble fake wood furniture that is commonly used for bookcases, entertainment centers, cheap desks, etc? Is there any way to paint it? Thanks.

I painted two nightstands by sanding them with an electric sander to get them rough, painting them with primer, and then finishing with two coats of the color I wanted. It worked really, really well and looked great when I was done. HTH!
