Pattern suggestions for Monster costume

DS has decided he wants to be a big blue scary monster, like Herry monster, now that he has learned the song "fuzzy and blue". I haven't seen any blue furry costumes online. I went to Hancock today and got some royal blue furry fabric (acrylic on olefin). I think I would like to make something simple like the art smock top from abetterbib.com and drawstring pants like scrubs. I have yet to look into patterns. I am a sewing novice--in fact I need to see if the sewing maching I have been given even works... Any simple pattern recs--size 3?
