    Default When can they eat fruit with the peel?

    And why can't they before that?

    According to my pedi all fruit/veggies should be peeled, steamed/baked until your DD is about 1 year. No peels until 18 months or becasuse it's a choking hazard.

    I think it's because peels are tougher to chew and can pose a choking hazard. DD is two and I still peel her apples but softer ones like pears and peaches she does fine with. She always spits the apple peels out so it's just easier to peel it.

    DS's been eating peaches and nectarines with the peel since he was about 15 or 16 months. They are very soft though. I do peel apples and I still cut grapes up into small pieces.
