    Default RE: UPDATE!

Woohoo!!! That's awesome! Go Rory, and go Jude! Thanks for the update--I was wondering how it would go! Yes, it is a weird concept to show them chewed up food, but I remember a discussion about it maybe a year ago when we were talking about kids who swallowed food whole and it always stuck in my mind as something you have to actually teach them.

Oh, this good news just made my day! :)

Default RE: Help! Mealtime makeover - how can we eat at the same time as dd?

If it makes you feel any better, Joshua is 3 and still drinks from a sippy cup. And it wasn't until he was 2 yrs. that our family could all sit down around the table together, and DH and I could actually eat our dinner at the same time as Joshua. It used to be more like we all sat at the table, and one of us ended up helping feed/contain Joshua while the other one ate. Then when Joshua was done eating, the person with the now cold food reheated it and ate alone...in peace :)

But now, we all sit down and eat together and Josh does pretty well about eating all by himself and not leaving the table until he really is finished. Ahhh, it only took 3 years, but we made it :) So there's hope!

    Default ah yes, the indipendence!!

SO taking courage from your little mess post, I let him hanlde his little espresso cup all by himself tonight. He drank from it fine (!!), but then proceeded to dump the remaining water over his mashed potatoes, squash gratin, and pork, after clearly pronoucing his food "Hot". LOL.

Contain! THAT'S the word I was looking for to describe what it is that we do - contain her!! Thanks, Amy! :)
