Default "Baby Cafe"- Breastfeeding cafe story

Hope this is not a repeat, but I found this on BBCnews and thought it to be very interesting, so I thought I would share. It is a story about a cafe that has opened to serve nursing moms and their families. It offers education, support and companionship. I thought it was very interesting.

*Caution* There is a quote from a woman in the story that says the decrease in people breastfeeding is "criminal". This is not my belief.
Please know that all opinions expressed in the article belong to the authors and the quoted, I just think it is an interesting idea ;)

How cool! I was chatting on another forum, and found I was talking with women from UK. They were all upset with their health visitors because they were NOT encouraged in their desire to breastfeed. Good to know that doesn't happen all the time.

Wouldn't it be awesome if cafes like this existed here?

Neat idea! We had a MomandMe group that met for the first 12 weeks (and then we "graduated" to the older group) where they helped encourage us in a lot of things new in motherhood, but in particular, they would help us with feeding issues, whether we were breastfeeding or formula feeding, although many of us were breastfeeding and the leader was an LC. The first 12 weeks were free, to encourage all new mothers to join. Most of us (myself included) were far less stressed and more encouraged about breastfeeding because of these sessions and some moms probably breastfed for a lot longer than they otherwise would have if it hadn't been for these sessions. A handful of us have formed a playgroup that is still meeting weekly 2 years later. The LC has told me she's had lots of groups form from within, another one of her goals. :)

I read through some of the article, and I think anything that helps a mother continue breastfeeding is fabulous! It's exciting to see things like this on the rise!
