    Default apple sauce for oil

Does anyone know the equivalent of applesauce for oil in baking?
I wanted to try to lighten things up with out losing too much.

Any experience for which type of baking I should NOT do this replacement?

Can I replace butter with applesauce? What is the equivalent?
    TIA

Default RE: apple sauce for oil

I've always replaced using equal amounts, or sometimes I'll use half applesauce and half oil/butter, depending on the recipe. I haven't tried it with cake or brownie mixes, but my guess would be that you still should substitute using equal amounts...
